A feed I turned off is showing again

The networks change their pages often, and a rule can stop matching.

  1. Tap the reload button at the top of the page.
  2. Open the ••• menu, choose What's hidden and check that the switch is still on.
  3. If the feed is still there, report it and say which network and which part of the page. That is usually enough to fix the rule.

I can't sign in

You sign in on the network's own page, so the usual things apply: check the password, and complete any code or confirmation the network asks for. If a network offers “Continue with Google” and Google refuses, sign in with your email and password for that network instead.

If a page is stuck, open Settings on the home screen and choose Sign out everywhere and clear data, then try again.

A page says “open the app”

Some networks keep parts of their service for the official app. noShorts hides most of these prompts, but it can't unlock what the website doesn't offer. Close the prompt if it has a close button, or go back.

TikTok and Snapchat look small

Both are shown as desktop sites, because their phone websites leave out messages or refuse to play videos outside the app. That makes them more cramped than the other networks.

Block the real apps

noShorts only removes the short videos when you open a network inside it. The apps on your Home Screen still have them. Blocking those apps means a tap out of habit shows a noShorts screen instead of the feed.

  1. On the home screen, tap Block the real apps.
  2. Tap Allow access. iOS asks twice: choose Continue on the first question, then Allow with Face ID or your passcode on the second, and Done when iOS confirms.
  3. Tap Choose apps. iOS shows categories, not single apps: use Search to find each app you want to block, for example YouTube, and tick it. Ticking a whole category blocks every app in it.
  4. Tap ✓ at the top right (Done on older versions of iOS). Blocking turns on.

An app says it is blocked

That is the block you set up above doing its job. Open noShorts and use the network there. To get the app itself back, open noShorts, tap the card under The apps on your Home Screen and turn Block these apps off. You can also remove noShorts's access in the iOS Settings app under Screen Time, or delete noShorts: both lift the block.

If the screen only says Restricted and doesn't mention noShorts, the block comes from another app that uses Screen Time. Turn it off in that app.

Jump to noShorts when I open the real app

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and go to Automation.
  2. Create a new automation, choose App, pick for example Instagram, and select Is Opened and Run Immediately.
  3. Add the action Open in noShorts and choose the same network.

Use either this or blocking for an app, not both: a blocked app can't be opened, so the automation would never run.

Notifications

The websites can't send notifications through noShorts. If you need them, keep notifications on for the official app and read the message in noShorts.

Remove everything

Settings › Sign out everywhere and clear data removes all cookies and cached files. Deleting the app removes the rest.
